ARE YOU AN LGBTIQ+ REFUGEE BEING FORCED INTO MIGRATION AND SEEKING ASYLUM IN AUSTRALIA?

Updated: Jun 18, 2021

Rainbow Communities Tasmania Inc. (RCT) wish to hear from eligible LGBTIQ+ people from overseas or Australia who are in danger of persecution or torture in their home country and are seeking refuge, in order to to enable support for their refugee status application.

Applications for LGBTIQ+ refugees migrating to Australia must be led by the refugee/s and/or people seeking asylum and be supported by an organisation that is willing and able to host the support group, in this case, Rainbow Communities Tasmania Inc.

The refugee applications are being assisted under the auspices of Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) (https://pridefoundation.org.au/), who are providing seed funding to qualified organisations for the establishment of peer-led groups in practical support of asylum seekers.

Seed funding is, by its nature, short term. However, one of the purposes of this proposal is to create systemic change, particularly encouraging refugee and LGBTIQ+ organisations to develop capacity for ongoing support for LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum. PFA will also continue to seek sources of additional funding to maintain the program beyond the initial period.

If you are a LGBTIQ+ person, in danger because of punishing homophobic practices in your home country and seeking refuge in Australia, please contact Mr Julian Punch by email in the first instance.
